An impressive pair of large black Ashford marble Pietra Dura obelisks from the early c19th when there was great interest in the ‘ Grand Tour ‘ decorative art style and keen tourists of the day often collected pieces as luxury souvenirs of their travels.
Their fronts have many specimen hard stones including lapis-lazuli, malachite, agates, quartz, jasper and marbles in a decorative mosaic inlay and sit on solid square stepped bases.
In excellent condition these would be a statement pieces for an interior.
