By Finnish artist Llmari Aalto who was largely known as an expressionist painter who went on into cubism.
He was one of three artists who contributed to painting the large landscape 'Koli' at Helsinki central station.
Sadly he died young in 1934.
The subject is unknown and has a somewhat imperious demeanour. Given her dress and hairstyle and the very definite cubist strokes especially around the head area we would date her to the late 1920s early 1930s.
